The Commonwealth Composition Challenge 2020 Final

The Commonwealth Composition Challenge

This was a special competition for young people stuck at home during the lockdown, who (earlier this year) were invited to compose pieces reflecting their own thoughts, feelings and experiences during the lockdown.

There was a terrific response from all over the Commonwealth! Every piece of music submitted was carefully listened to by a panel of brilliant young and professional adjudicators, who sent written feedback to every single entrant and picked a shortlist from the many outstanding entries.

We asked the shortlisted young composers each to send us a recording of their piece and we helped all those who were unable to do this. We are very proud of them all and invite you to listen to their pieces below.

THREE awards were be presented:
1) THE COMMONWEALTH COMPOSITION CHALLENGE 2020 – to be decided and announced by the Adjudicators
2) The CCC AUDIENCE AWARD- to be whichever piece receives the greatest number of online audience votes.
3) The Young Adjudicators’ Award
