During the past 12 months throughout the lockdown, lots of exciting online composition training programmes have been taking place throughout the Commonwealth, including all parts of the U.K. and also in North America. Many promising new pieces of music composed by young people have been created, performed and recorded.

The Grand Final will feature the work of 10 outstanding young composers whose music will be performed, recorded and streamed on a Live Youtube Premiere by The CICA Ensemble. This is a cross-cultural group of brilliant young professional musicians, identified specially for this event by The Commonwealth Resounds.

FLYERS – This is the name given to the 10 young composers who have all been mentored by experienced composition students from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, U.K., directed by David Horne

STARTERS – We shall also be celebrating the achievements of a special group of young composers, each of whom is  at an early stage in their compositional journey. Many of them have been trained via programmes run and sponsored by the CICA. All finalists will be mentored by composition students from the Royal Northern College of Music, supervised by David Horne. You can find out more information about David and our mentors here.
